19 March 2010 – Site Visit to the WaveHouse at Sentosa

In the latest attraction to land on the shores of Sentosa, the Wave House is the fourth and newest installation in a chain of WaveHouses that stretches from Durban in South Africa , San Diego in California , to Santiago in Chile .

Singapore has long been a crossroad for surfers seeking the perfect wave at beaches around Southeast Asia , however the island lacks the giant waves which surfers long for. WaveHouse has brought a perfect, endless, 10' barrel wave that rivals those at popular beaches around the region.

The centerpiece of WaveHouse Sentosa is “The Wave” – a fully-flowing, Flow Barrel sheet wave. The founder and CEO of WaveHouse pumps water at a high speed over stationary curved walls to generate barreling and smooth waves. The waveform is a proprietary composite membrane ride surface that is designed to absorb the energy of impacts.

WaveHouse also consists of two beach bars and a restaurant which serves new California Asian Cuisine prepared by talented chefs.
