31 August 2009 – NATAS Holidays 2009 Brings in the Crowds!

Singaporeans turned up in full force, close to 62,000 to be exact, at the three-day event held at the Singapore Expo Halls 4 and 5 from 28-30 August 2009. Thronging the halls, visitors were wooed by attractive travel package deals to popular and exotic destinations as well as exciting and stunning performances brought in by the various National Tourist Organizations and exhibitors.

The Guest-of-Honor at the event, Mr. Huang Cheng Eng, Executive Vice President, Marketing and the Regions at Singapore Airlines gave an opening speech which was followed by the opening of the event represented by a laser display depicting the various iconic travel destinations.

For their support for Holidays 2009, NATAS also took the opportunity to present tokens of appreciation to the following organizations: MasterCard Worldwide, American Home Assurance Company, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, Jet Airways, Asiana Holidays and Nestle.

Compared to the last show in February this year, visitor figures were up 9.5% and sales figures grew by 21%! This is a good indicator that the travel industry is set for a rebound after suffering the effects of the economic downturn since last October and the global flu outbreak in May this year.

Thanks to the various National Tourist Organizations, NATAS Holidays 2009 was jam packed with stage performances that were world-class entertainment.
