NATAS Breakfast Seminar 2013 - Tauck

Local travel agents were given the opportunity to learn what makes a tour operator successful when Mr Steven R. Spivak from Tauck, one of the most successful tour operators in the world, gave a presentation at the NATAS Breakfast Seminar on 21 May 2013. 

In his talk, Mr Spivak explained that Tauck focussed on providing the best of the best in travel experiences, not by competing on price but on quality. “We want to innovate and be ahead. We want people to copy us. If the customer can get something they want somewhere else, then we’re doing it wrong,” he said.  “We believe that what we offer is something more than what can be found on their own or in a book.”

Addressing the concerns of the local travel agents, Mr Spivak cited research that found 64% of travel purchased by people under the age of 35 is through a travel agent.  He went on to explain that while travellers now do a lot of research online, they still rely on travel agents as they do not have the time to do the full research or make the bookings themselves.
